Effective client service requires of the hospitality industry to perform across geographical boundaries. Internet marketing and centralised reservations place an ever increasing burden on the information and communication technology facilities of hospitality establishments. Until recently true on-line reservations and data synchronizing was a luxury reserved for large national and multi-national groups. With the introduction of the INNsync data synchroniser, these facilities are within the reach of even the smallest hospitality establishment.
The INNSync utility is designed to synchronize a dataset between multiple servers (referred to as branches) across geographical boundaries. It is proprietary and does not rely on any from of database replicator such as those provided by commercial database systems.
INNSync employs a proprietary algorithm to keep multiple PSD Suite databases synchronised over any TCP/IP network, whether LAN, WAN or Internet, through a permanent connection or even a dial-up connection.
The bandwidth requirement of a typical INNSync connection is minimal. If 20 operators were to create a new client and booking every minute, that would require a throughput of only 1KB/s to maintain synchronistion without the remote server ever lagging behind.
Although the throughput requirement of INNSync is easily met by any dial-up modem, we do recommend a permanent connection like Diginet (or ASDL) to keep costs down and avoid the hassles associated with dial-up connections.
